Article: Moving the Login Block to a Seperate Page in Drupal
Just posted a new article on aPaddedCell (our new content site), here's the summary:
Quote: This text and video tutorial shows how the login block may be moved to a seperate page in Drupal. This can be desirable for site owners who only allow login access to administrators, not all visitors.
Post any comments, suggestions, questions etc. here. The videos might be a little too big, let us know how you get on with them, I really wanted people to be able to read the text on the pages though!
Hope you find the article useful.

Update! There's an easier way, I am an idiot!
Apparently (and my searches never found this before) the log in block can be disabled, but still accessed through /user, e.g. http://www.example.com/user To disable the log in block go into Administer -> Site building -> Blocks, select in the Region drop-down for the User login block. Now log out, and visit http://www.example.com/user (or http://www.example.com/?q=user if you're not using Clean URLs), where example.com is your site URL.
My method is still valid, and might well be useful under certain circumstances, but takes a little longer.

Jeeves, that's exactly what I did on my personal site at thepriebes.com. I read that first message (without going to the link) and was thinking it wasn't that big of a deal on my site.
I just put a login link in the footer, personally. It links to that exact user page you mentioned.

I was a little miffed that I went to all that trouble only to find there was a much easier way to do things! Doh!
