I want to set up a sandbox test environment for an ecommerce site running on VP-ASP on a Windows server with ASP and an Access database.

Is there any way to set up a FREE local dev Windows server and Access database (xampp for a Windows server?) on my Windows Vista machine?

I am pretty sure it has the .NET 3 framework, but that is not a full server, right?

I don't know for sure, but I think if you download Visual Studio (probably the web developer edition) from Microsoft, it might automatically set you up. I use Visual Studio for C# coding, and I didn't have to download anything special to get it working.

If you don't have Microsoft Access/Office on your machine, you might run into problems. But I'm not sure about that either, because you can write a C# program that uses an Access database without it being on your local machine.

Just download Visual Studio and see what happens Smiling

Thanks teammatt3,

My client is looking into mirroring on his server - the best solution.

He'll give me the ftp but not the cp.

(Windows hosting on GoDaddy? well, he is happy, I guess if you register and host a lot of domains they treat you well, this guy pulls domains out of the air like a magician...)
