Where does HTML5 fit here? Is it the next phase after my HTML intro? Or is it another league because it's often compared with Flash. Sorry for my noob question but Mr Jobs should be happy for this.

No, HTML 5 is just the next version of HTML 4, which is what everyone is working with now. It's mostly something to keep an eye on right now. Learn what the new developments are and follow what the browser makers are doing to support them. Once things are supported you can try using them in your own projects.

HTML 5 is mostly something to consider for the future at this point.

One nice thing to be aware of--HTML5 is being implemented and released in "chunks." Rather than having to wait for a complete spec, which won't happen for years, browser makers are encouraged to implement the parts for which there is consensus When IE 9 comes out, recent versions of all browsers will have support for canvas, audio, and video tags, for example.

Hopefully the move to HTML5 will be less traumatic than the introduction of XHTML, as HTML5 accepts both HTML 4.1 and XHTML syntax. If you like adding the extra cruft that comes with XHTML, or you can't turn it off in your tools of choice, your pages still validate.

The W3C validator will recognize and validate an HTML5 document, so you can experiment today. But as Megan suggests, use caution. Not everyone will upgrade to IE 9 as soon as it comes out--Unfortunately...

I can't wait until HTML5 comes out there are a lot of upgrades to this ghetto old script language that are getting boosted. There's a lot of information on specifics about these upgrades from HTML 4 on the net.

HTML 5 is the next major revision of the HTML standard, under development. HTML 5 is a response to the observation that the HTML and XHTML in common use on the World Wide Web is a mixture of features introduced by various characteristics, as well as those introduced by the software as web browsers, as defined by common practice with many errors of syntax in the existing Web documents.

HTML5 is the next revision of HTML and it will be released in 2012. In 2008, the W3C published its first working draft of HTML5. Currently, we are on HTML 4.01. The advent of HTML5 is a big deal, as it will provide a variety of upgrades, which will allow the web to function in an improved capacity. HTML5 will also encompass a wide variety of other changes. For example, it will allow visitors to edit websites that they are visiting.

I think,HTML 5 is the next version of HTML 4.It's rarely used and with the help of HTML 5 we can easily and quickly find any type of information or pictures. So overall it's good version of HTML.

I guess HTML is common editor to make a website, it is commonly recommended. But some say Flash CS is also an alternative and it is user friedly specially for newbie or starter.

I don't see too many people using HTML5 yet, and not all browsers support HTML5 yet. I guess after under-going lot of changes, some stable version of HTML5 may become the latest standard of HTML after the current HTML4 version.

Acc. to me, HTML5 is intended more for blogs as it has tags like and what not!
