I like the idea of the site. the layout isn't bad but nothing that really caught my eye. But really most sites ar popular for their content not really their look. I mean take yahoo for example, very bland look but their services are nice.

In your rating pull down, it says "lovest" not "lowest".

I have to say it all seems a little dull, the colours are very tired and soft looking, not all that impressive and doesnt really tell you what the site is about or what people do there? Perhaps a spruce of some lively colors and a graphic or two would help?

Hello designindex,

Hmm. Actually, I have to disagree with hclear. I found your color scheme to be very refreshing and relaxing. I think you should keep it as it is.

What I find lacking is an immediate understanding of what the site is all about. If I just happened to stumble upon your site, I wouldn't know what it was all about. There needs to be some verbage to explain what Design-Index is for, why it's relevant to me, what I can do on it.

The staggered-color bars as substitutes for "Go" bars are creative but misleading. I had a suspicion as to what their purpose was and had to experiment with them. They're also rather narrow and it took a bit more delicate movement to get me to hover over them. I think you might be trying to use a universal symbol; in which case, an arrow button might suffice (and make it a bit larger).

The recessed squares in "Add a new site", "Statistics" and "Join Today" were a tad confusing for me. I now recognize them as being design elements but I first thought that they might be radio buttons which did not load properly on my browser. I wasn't too sure whether they needed to be clicked on. Perhaps you should take them out and replace them with something else.

I hope this feedback is useful. And please don't change the color scheme.

Best Regards,

I have to go with Zoinks on this. What exactly is your site about? You have a lot of empty space to the right of your logo that could perhaps be used to explain the purpose of the site to new visitors.

And to be very honest, little things like "Why to register?" instead of "Why register?" and "Do you want forum..." instad of "Do you want a forum..." lead me to believe it is foreign site that has been translated and will have little interest for me.

I do think you did a nice job of layout and navigation - just let visitors know what the site is all about.

Looks more like a print brochure than a website. I guess that's refreshing to some, but it doesn't appeal to me. Smiling

Really nice, fresh, design. Clean typography. Good use of colour. Simple and easy to use navigation.

Good stuff!!

I say it looks good....I'd 86 the submit buttons as they might be just images to newer web users and my opinion of "mystery navigation" is to stay away from it.

Matt

I like the design of the site, but i think it's lacking content.

Its hard to really tell what its about, and like others said, it has alot of empty space.

On a positive note, the design in is really clean. Its easy to see, and navigate.

The site is very clean. That's nice.

However it lacks a certain warmth.

My guess is that the color values contribute to a cold feeling. perhaps a more saturated blue?

Otherwise a couple of tasteful images or a non text logo image might warm it up bit.

Site look: Great Laughing out loud - I never seen that kind of design before

Content wise: don't have much,

and one more thing: Don't use absolute width

Thats a very nice clean layout, I like the colour scheme and the fact that its not too graphic-heavy - 56k users would be moaning forever if it was!
