I haven't posted here in a long time. I'm in the process of a redesign. Pages that are done:
The Homepage:

Compare this design with the rest of the pages. Which is better?
I make my own backgrounds and graphics.

This is my personal site,I didn't have an one theme, just a sort of something for everyone kind of thing. If you'd now take a peek at one of the other pages other than the ones I've listed here..... they haven't been touched yet.
Where I have so many pages, I did the dop-down and tried to divide them into catergories rather than make people do an extra click to say a spash page for each catergory. That extra clicking irritates me. I have considered frames, but I have an awful lot of repeat visitor that come in on pages other than the homepage. My site does pretty well I think for a rinky-dink liitlle personal page as far as hits go. The counter as only been on for 13 months.
The background in a ship, an a bird, you can tell better on any of the other pages I have listed.
The bottm looking cluttered to you........do you mean it should be spaced out more?
What other type of nav would you suggest? With such a large site, nav has always been a thorn in my side:(.
I want a warm homey look and feel to this as oppesed to the classic, links down the left border
commercial type of site. On thing I insist on for my site is that it be original.
The "sub-sites" is my way of expanding so I can do other pages and still keep the main site consistant. If I do end up making the lead-in splash pages, I'm thinking maybe an image map containing links to each page within each section like I've done on this page:
http://pages.cthome.net/hayescraze/josh.htm
This still all is really swimming around in my head..........

Interesting- I'm just going to comment on the main site though:
1) what is the purpose?
2) what is the bg image?
3) i like the logo
4) i don't really like the pictures next to the words navigation menu
5) you should probably create a different kind of navigation other then the drop-down menu
6) the bottom of the site is really cluttered
