Yeah, i checked that out and it did seem a little too much of a hit and miss.

There was no real relevance there, the website design for your own website with the serif software was actually fairly bad and would not even be really considered as a free service.

You have also not read the rules, since you are advertising here without being here for a set time and having posted a fair few posts.

Many members take the general respect of making some good posts before advertising services.

There is a section for this.

Best Regards,
Mike

To answer your original question, it's very clear in the Forum Rules that this site is not a source of free advertising.

You may not post advertisements throughout the forums. This includes new threads and replies to existing threads.

I checked your removed posts, and that are definitely considered as spam or self-promotion. Please read over the forum rules and PM me or another moderator if you have any questions.

Doesn't matter, we can't have people going around offering whatever they're selling all over the forums. That would just make the real quality discussion harder to find and the quality of the forums would decrease.

We do have opportunities for promotion here, you just have to give a little back, that's all.

Dude, you are staring death in the face by getting silly with the mods and admins. It is suicide.

You may not be "selling", but in fact you are advertising a service in the wrong forum section and without enough contribution.

Good luck with work, ect but i am sorry but i cannot see things working out for you if the continue with your current attitude.

Best Regards,
Mike

The ! and by the sounds of your posts, this is sarcasm.

The only posts that you have here are in this topic, i cannot see any other contribution.

NO !!!! I quie genuinly wanted to know what they didn't like.
u've got me all wrong. I am just a regular bloke who has ended up unemployable as I am stuck in a wheelchair. The only contact with the great outdoors, being my PC. This is why i can, and was trying to, offer my free services.

Hi Simon,

I can appreciate your eagerness to hone your web design skills.

I too found myself in need of a new career.

IMO your site has way too big text that breaks awkwardly - and crude graphics, if at all - in fact, no real "layout" at all...

I agree that you need to offer a better level of service - even for free!

I have taught myself web design (actually, I am a web developer - I ain't no designer!) from resources on the internet, and lots of hard work.

Tizag may be a good place for you to start - maybe some of the others following this thread can recommend other resources and tutorials for beginners that will start you on your way! Smiling

I think this thread went a bit in the wrong direction!

While it is arguable that your post that was unpublished may not be spam, as indeed what you offered was a free service, it is classed as self promotion.

This is allowed in only one area of the forum, to avoid all forums being filled with people's own website links and "self promotion". The forums are set out to allow for discussions, help and assistance in all areas of webmastery (etc), and are not there to simply post your own site details and links.

As already stated, there is a correct place within the forum to request feedback on your website.

It might sound harsh to you that the forum rules limit you to a certain area and carry criteria requirements for feedback, but it keeps the forum tidy and ensures everyone helps each other in the correct places.
