Do embedded YouTube videos register as YouTube views?

As you probably know by now, I am helping publicize Faith the two-legged dog's diplomatic mission to spread the love, particularly with wounded vets.

I am embedding the two videos I posted to YouTube on my web site, and also running an AdWords like promotion for one of them on YouTube/Google.

Faith's person posted my site as the place to view them (I think BlueHost can handle the bandwidth) but I am wondering if views of the embedded YouTube vids on my site will register in the overall YouTube stats?

[EDIT]

here are the stats from the Insight > Discovery pane

thanks, Greg, for the links, yah I could have found them myself if I bothered

I guess YouTube/Google is a smart company and I should have expected they would be counted both ion aggregate and separately.

The discussion about artificially inflating the view count reminds me of a client a few years back who wanted to test methods to force a competitor to give up a particular AdWords keyword.

I am glad to report that various methods, including automated clicks through proxies, did not register on the AdWords test account.

And when I recently restarted my services and contacted that client, he had the nerve to call me "unprofessional" (just because my wife used to rip the phone wire out of the wall when we were talking - but that is not an issue anymore) - HAH

I guess it's one of those things that might not work all the time though. There are billions of youtube vids being served around the net, so some data/stat will go missing here and there.

Net ad companies are extremely wise to that sort of thing now, especially anything with ads in them. They tend to outwit the dodgy methods before they have even been thought of.

Then, I suppose if you're paying for your site to be displayed somewhere, you want to at least know it's a legit click, and I guess for large sites like google's adwords, there are possible legal implications, they'll have obligations to ensure (at least best they can) that clicks being paid for are genuine unique clicks.

Right - it works when it works...

I am using the AdWords like YouTube promotion tool for the Faith and Hope vid.

On one view the impressions were over 2000, then they went down to the previous value 1600... hmmm

Interestingly, with keywords like VA, hospital, two legged, dog, etc the best conversion is on the keyword "love"

According to "Insight" about 29% is embedded (netsperience.org) -- 29% is viral/other (they say probably email) -- 29% is from external links (including 5.8% from TWF, thanks guys!) -- 11% is "YouTube other" (/myvideos) -- 133 total views, mainly US and Australia

On the promo, I bid $0.10 per click with a $1/day limit which I have already achieved, perhaps I will up it a little to start things off.
