Video streaming without Flash Media server
I quite new to video streaming. Just wandered if anyone here new about it.
Basically, I want to create a video streaming server for advertising solutions. Streaming defined: the video is played directly from the server without the user having to download it?
I know that Flash media server can do this, however, it is very expensive. Are there any alternatives? and how does this work?

Is this like a live stream that you are trying to serve or something like a .flv file?

Yes there is a way. You can use Red5 Streaming Server if you dont wanna use Adobe Streaming Server
