I need help in text designing in photoshop...
I need some serious kind of guidance in my text designing in photoshop. The only style that I know is to just add outter glow from the blending options... Can someone please tell me a few good websites from where i an polish me text desiging skills in photoshop.... or some one please tell me some good tips over here.... Also please some one tell me some good places to download some good fonts and also please tell me how to intregate them in photoshop... I am currently only using the fonts that are in Windows .... SO PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!:roll:

http://www.dafont.com is a good place for fonts. Tons to choose from, but they're all neatly categorized so you can find something that suits your project.
For text, sometimes it's better to keep things simple. You might want to look for design books by Robin Williams (the non-designer's type book for example). She does a really good job explaining things with lots of examples.
One of the ways to play with type is to look at the contrast two parts. You can use a lot of different techniques to provide contrast. Contrast will make your designs really pop and help viewers to focus more on key parts. So you could, for example, make one element much bigger than the other. Or you could use different colours. Or different typefaces. Just make sure that the differences are strong and obvious. If there isn't enough difference the designs can look wishy-washy.

Try googling "photoshop tutorials".

There are many things you can do with type rather than add styles (which IMO doesn't work well)
Combine lettes, snip off a serif here and there and combine charecters together..Use combos of all caps, small caps, and regular type together, use kerning to strech out the spacing bewteen letters, use two fonts that work well together, change height of charecters, use transform to rehape letters...just let your imagination take over.
In Photoshop cntrl T will bring up the Charecters Pallete, you have all kinds of text formatting options there.

Depending on the font, some styles work well on some but not on others. Be sure that once you download a font (whether you pay for it or get it for free) that you install it into your Windows system so that it's available in Photoshop or any other word processing program.

Oh, and there's one more thing I forgot to mention: Once you apply a specific style to text, if you're not happy with the results you can always open up the effects layer and adjust the individual effects listed under there: things like the drop shadow, gradient overlay, bevel and emboss, satin, etc etc can all be modified. If you're not sure which effect needs to be changed just turn each one off until you find the one that isn't quite right and make your adjustments with that one until you're happy with the result. Get creative and have fun!
