baking cookies with perl

Hola, (not spanish, just like saying hola!)
I've never used cookies before, but now I am writing an admin section and want to keep a user logged-in through their session. I've searched the forums and everyone seems to know alot more about cookies then me. Is there a simple way to use cookies with perl? Cause my skills with perl are mediocre at best. Basically, all I want is a simple value that can be read when my script is run to authorize it's execution.

Any help would be..um..helpful.
