Welcome! I thought that a forum dedicated to the "behind the scenes" operation of a hosting company would be VERY useful to those of you looking for a new host. I know that Deb, Curtis, and myself will provide information (not to confidential) to the many questions you may have about hosting.

Some appropriate topics that could be discussed within this forum:

1) Server Issues: What type of servers do hosts use? How difficult is it to run a server? Learn what type of server you site is probably being hosted on and how it works, what it costs, etc.

2) Software Issues: What is ASP? ColdFusion? MS SQL? PHP3? Differences between UNIX and NT? Which is better? Basic features involved with hosting packages. Learn what they are and do and if they are right or wrong for you.

3) The Hosting Industry: Who are the leaders? Is it better to be hosted with the "little guys," the "big guys," or the resellers? Is it better to resell services or have your own servers and connections? How do I resell? Is it profitable? What connections are needed? Just the basics of setting up a Web Site Hosting Company.

4) Many other topics... Just post them if you think they would fit in here and we will let you know if they are appropriate or should be moved to another forum.

As always, this forum is here to help better educate the customer before going out and purchasing hosting services. But most of all, this forum is here for you to have fun and hopefully learn something in the process! Enjoy!

Also, if you know of some hosts, make sure to add them to my directory:
