I just got http://www.thesitesupport.net ! I'm gonna redo my site completely starting with a new template. I plan to add an account system linking a forum, link exchange program, and traffic surfing into one account! I like the idea and I'm sure it wil get alot of traffic to my site. Any comments on this idea?

I'll post updates on my site when I start working on it... I needa get the ftp working and then I'll be set.

Sounds like a good idea to have the accounts linked to each system. That alone may not get a lot of traffic, as you'd still need to advertise, but it sounds like something that would keep people. Especially webmasters.

Good luck with the idea!

The site name is good (sitesupport)

User Pannel - spelling error

I hope you have your own domain name, because I see freewebs.com domain in the url

http://www.freewebs.com/sitesupport/

meta tags looks okay

One error on w3c validator
Failed validation, 1 Error

No Character Encoding Found! Falling back to UTF-8.
I was not able to extract a character encoding labeling from any of the valid sources for such information. Without encoding information it is impossible to reliably validate the document. I'm falling back to the "UTF-8" encoding and will attempt to perform the validation, but this is likely to fail for all non-trivial documents.

I am confused - I went to tutorials expecting to find tutorials and it was a forum on html css etc (note listed number of posts)
May want to put some basic HTML tutorials and basic CSS tutorials etc.
Another good tutorial is how to use free html editors, validators etc
hope this helps

Nice looking site! and some good stuff on there

I think the logo needs to stand out a little more, it kinda blends into the background

w3c validator errors on the site have already been mentioned, however the only downloadable template so far, which is showing the "valid Icon", fails with 14 Errors

also, not sure what kind of deal freewebs offer now, but when I had my 1st site on there years ago, I was constantly running out of bandwidth & ending up with ads all over the site by the end of the month, so for a 'community type' site it may not be the ideal place... duuno, it may be alot better deal there now Smiling i've never realy looked at it again since I moved

Good luck with it!

Thanks for the comments! I forgot I posted this thread Confused

Anyway I'm still working on it and trying to get the account connection bit working. I'm working on replacing some conent (templates and tutorials) cuz I didn't like them, and redoing it.

Anyone got suggestions on improving my forum? Besides members (need them for sure Laughing out loud ).

get it embedded

i think it should fit with the rest pages, i.e. in the center, same background, same link colours

you also definitely need links to the other parts of your site in there, thats the main thing i always see people missing, once you are in the forum there is no obvious way back the main site,

also i know that those colours fit Very nicely with the rest of your design, but its soo clearly the default prosilver theme

i think even just ditching those rounded corners will make it look better they are not used anywhere else on the site, that would alter the look away from 'the default'

I think it looks good if not very generic. It's easy to read and thats what counts.
