The site is still fairly early in the development phase (around 40%) but I would really like to hear any comments you might have on the site so far.

If you want to test out the list parts you'll have to login. If you don't want to register you can use the following:

user(email): test
password: test

If you do use this login be aware that other people might be using it also so you might see items on your list that you didn't add, that's because you're sharing the login with someone else.

Also, I would like to get a rough idea of how much you would charge for designing a site like this(ballpark is fine). It uses a lot of ASP and is driven by a SQL 7 database.

Here's the link foodpricesonline.com

Thanks,
PJ

This is a really nice design - clean and simple.

Firstly, "Want to save time & money on your next grocery trip!" should be a question, not an exlamation.

The scrolls at 640 x 480. It some cases, I think it's okay to exclude those users, but you have to think about your target audience. Who is interested in grocery shopping? Moms. This audience, I think, is probably not too computer savvy and many are probably running at low resolutions.

I tried the shopping list a little bit - it might be a good idea to set up an alternative method of creating a list - browsing instead of searching (ie. meats, produce, deli etc..)

Nice to review a TO site Smiling

I like the design also, but here is how you can improve:

1) the site is too plain, you need to spice it up.

2) you have excluded 640x480 users, cause most don't like scrolling across the screen (like me!)

3) all the graphics are pretty fuzzy on my screen.

4) the top bar that says "loginm register, etc.." isn't the same color of the bgcolor of that cell.

4) when you do a mouseover for the left navigation buttons, the imae it changes if way to big.

Looks OK, main img is blured and does not fit in with the site though.
All the corners are a bit jagged.

The site looks ok.... maybe a little too plain, and the edges are a little jagged....
But the over all look ur trying to get.. is fine.
The images on the navbar(top).... maybe you should try and change it, coz at first it looked like the text disappeared when i did the mouseover...maybe its my screen...but how about giving the text maybe an outline or something to that effect..just to let it look better when u mouseover.

either than that.... KOOL!...

Megs,

Thanks for pointing out the exclamation mark error, it's a simple mistake but pretty important.

Everyone,

The decision was made upfront (by client) for the site to be 800x600. The problem with 640x480 was that there was to much information in the lists to be displayed at that resolution without looking to scrunched.

The graphics are jagged/blurry because this is still basically testing. Once I've finalized the look all graphics will be redone.

dyc,

The server wasn't down, that was just me messing around in the Global ASA file. For those with NT servers be VERY careful with this file Wink

Anyone here using NT servers with IISA Stats program, I couldn't believe how much information this proram gives you, amazing.

I really appreciate all the comments and suggestions. I'll post the site for review again once I get close to being finished.

Thanks,
PJ

Oh boy here we go again...

While I've been very happy wth powersurge.net's very quick tech support replies I must say I've been very dissapointed with the frequency of the server not being available. This is the 3rd time in the last three weeks that I can't access the site.

I apologize to everyone here, hopefully this will be fixed soon. Sad

Later,
PJ

Well, you must still be messing with that file, because I still can't access your server Smiling

I think the design on this page is nice....neat and clean. You don't really need to load a site down with graphics for it to look nice. Like kidjustino mentioned, the graphics are a bit fuzzy...I'm not sure what format you're saving them in, but I find that .gif works best for me. You can choose how many colors you want, etc. Anyhow! Smiling

The one thing that I noticed is on the disclaimer page it says "Grocer's reserve the right..." It should be Grocers. When you use an apostrophe it indicates possession....a common grammatical mistake. But, if you have any visitors like me, they'll notice it right off.

Good luck!

Well, I STILL can't access the site Sad . I had no idea that Powersurge was so bad; maybe it's only their NT division (isn't this site hosted with Powersurge?).
