Hi everyone,

I've just set up my first website, Quest CCTV for my new company and would really appreciate your feedback and opinions on it.

I'm interested in everything you have to say, and any ideas on how I can improve the site.

Hi James_1983,

Your site looks techy, which suits the purpose, but there are some things you could do to make it better: Never distort any text, logos, artwork or pictures. You should change the distorted logo with one of correct proportions. Try to use free-flowing text, forget about justifying and use bigger leading values (vertical distance between your lines of text). Menu usage on the left is tidy, but the "Open a Quest CCTV Trade" icon/button should definitely lose those frames and you should add a more eye-catching icon. The blue skin is quite nice and suits the purpose.

Web sites often have blue skin, it will look better. But I think it also depends on a number of other factors such as color preferences of each person, the purpose of the website, .. I'm using mostly black and not effective, may in the future I will change color to better sites.

I like your website. However, I think the footer area is a little empty, maybe try adding something there.

Yeah bottom issue still not fixed, ignoring that the site is quite nice, clean and readable!

Your site doesn't work with IE7, the layout and background seem to be mixed with each other.

I can not view your site with IE7. I think your layout is not good. The layout and main color make visitors unhappy as well. It would be better if you can redesign your site. Thanks

I really like your site, If you can just add some colors, not important but its great to have it.

There needs some improvement in the footer area of your website.

Picture on the front page never loaded for me. I would capitalize all Tabs on the page instead of leaving some lowercase. Also the small print under the sites name could be larger so that one could read what type of company this is.

I like the color and the layout. It is simple, clean. But it may be better if you can make more contrast between the background and the center area, this will make your content stand out.
I think there are too much content in the footer area. Usually nobody will notice the content of the foot area so make it simple. Part of the footer is outside of the bottom line in Firefox. Please check your browser compatible.
In IE, the animation is not load and there is no sign asking me the download plug-in.
There is no alt tag for the images. What if your images don’t load?
The font size and type are not consistent in each page.
There is no content in the download page. You can add something such as “coming soon” to give user some information.
But overall, the site is nice and easy to navigate.

The overall appeal of the site design is great, however I do have a few suggestions to improve upon it:

1. Your menu links can be somewhat difficult to click (at least while using Google Chrome), please ensure that the entire button is click-able rather than just the text within.
2. Your search box on the top right side of the page should outline it's purpose: eg: "Search".
3. Perhaps you should reconsider the name of your orders container "View Basket". Most e-commerce websites use the "View Cart" terminology. This change would reduce confusion for users who cannot make the connection between the two.
4. I read the first few lines on the introduction page and noticed many spelling and grammatical errors, a professional website should not make this mistake. If I were a potential customer I would leave your site the moment I notice anything unprofessional.

I do enjoy the general layout of the site, the navigation and content areas are easy to navigate and the content is laid out well.

I have a couple critiques that I hope you find useful:

- On the navigation:
The top half of your navigation is not linked properly (unable to click, this is likely a CSS issue)
There also isn't a consistent use of capitalization. (home vs. About).

- On some of your images, there are white borders and pixelation that can be avoided by using transparent PNGs instead of JPGs. (for example see http://www.questcctv.com/index.html with the pictures of the different cameras)
