Let me know what you think. Site has been running for couple months and is kinda a spare time project so is not complete. Thinking about redesigning, but just might improve on what's there.

i like it......

there's just some tiny suggestions I got:

this list of missing people is real great but if you insert bgproperties=fixed in the body-tag it would look better, don't you think?

and there should be a greater difference between text and links, i could hardly separate the "one Oregon record and one national record"-link from the rest of the text...

Not sure I understand about the bgproperties.

Already fixed the link color.

Hey CDS,
Looks like a fun project. I really like your site, maybe because purple is my favorite color or because I really like your little swirling dots effect .
I liked the way you tucked your extreme tracker out of the way, not sure why that little tracker icon bugs me so much.

take care,

Carolyn,

Didn't have much choice on color, twas either purple with yellow or yellow with purple (school colors) I agree about the tracker, but what the h*ll, it's free. Suppose I could replace it, but...

If you want that script let me know and i'll email it to you. I got it from a site that the only stipulation is you leave the authors name and web site in it. It's called cool flies. Every one of the "flies" can be different colors if you so desire. It's more effective in a non-frames page though.

A lot of people don't like the embedded sounds on web sites. I think your site is a good example of a site that should have sound as an "option"---(since hearing "music from those days" immediately takes you back )
I didn't hear the sounds because my speakers are out of reach and turned off, you might consider a sound option? That way people can turn them on if they want? -- I didn't really look closely at the sound part so if there is that option already I missed it.
(oh I would love to have that script, if for no other reason then to add to my huge pile of "maybe laters".
take care,

hi cds!
if you change your first <body>-tag to this:

<body background="picture.gif" bgproperties="fixed"> for example

the background image will not move with the text when you scroll up and down...
but this feature only works with IE, maybe this is why you haven't perceived it yet...

Hi,

1. I like the colors ... the purple could be a little darker ... but it looks good as it is.

2. the pirate contains to much (background-)purple

3. the navbar-images look a little blurred.

4. in the top frame i've got about 100 empty pixels. if the where used for the main from i would have to scroll lesser.

5. while i wrote 1-4 my focus switched 5 times to the browser containing your page ... hmmm ... maybe the swarm ??

6. the sound should default to off.
Image someone sitting at his Mac in his cubicle surfing to your site. damn. another visitor lost as he lost his job

7. the "marshfield"-link opens a new browser ... hey ... i'd like to be warned.

ciao

Thanks all!!

The common consensus seems to be make sound an option. I can do that Think maybe a selection type box where visitors can select which song they want to hear. Right now there are about 20 songs that it chooses at random. Sorry it crashed your puter JP, never had that happen before.

Already added the bgproperties-fixed to the missing page...kinda cool in IE.

Pirate gif is like that because originally it was a jpg with a white background. I converted it to gif and made the background transparent...and everything else that was white Guess I need to dust off photoshop and do the conversion with a different colored background than any of the other colors in the gif.

I can redo the nav images...probably just need to use the purple background in the original before it is made transparent. Think it is white right now.I use Zara 3D to create those type of images so is easily fixed. Could be the font that is doing it also...anyway, i'll work on it.

The extra space in the top frame is for the benefit of those using 640x480. Without the extra space, you have to scroll the top frame and that really looks tacky. Originally you didn't have to scroll the nav frame either, but as items got added...Next major overhaul of the site will probably be a non-frames, so that should take care of those issues anyway.

Anyway, thanks to all that checked the site out. Your comments can only make the site better.
