Critique your heart out - My first experience with shopping carts

Howdy all,

Let me know what you think. It's my first time setting up a shopping cart. All the links go someplace (I think). Page might not be done, but page there is. The cart works, so feel free to play around with it. Just not connected to a credit card processor. Front page has black text and others have blue. Let me know which looks better.

Hi there Dan,
I'm curious about the background image also since it's all covered up from here, it could just be slowing things down. I think your site could use a little pizzaz (sp?). Maybe take a pic or two of your product(s) and artistically place it somewhere. For some reason bright red and blue don't feel like (tea, food) colors --- maybe something leafy(tea) or natural -- just an idea.
Let me know if you want more help --- I have more ideas then places to put them Smiling.

take care,

I'll be blunt, as you (hopefully) want my honest opinion:
- I don't like the bg, doesn't inspire me to trust in your site for some reason - a bit tacky.
- the cart image is a bit cheap looking.
- ...in fact I think it needs to be themed - i.e have more pictures related to it's content.

I like your red, white, and blue color theme, thus, the name "American Agrotrading". However, the shopping cart image does degrade the site's integrity and give me some images of the products if you want me to buy.

To all,

OK, have changed the color scheme, added some product pictures to set the theme of the site. Left the red/blue logo but changed the rollovers and text colors. Let me know what you think. Lost the "tacky" cart image Smiling. Would think that when you "buy" a cart program, they would supply a decent graphic...oh well, ease of setup i guess offsets that by a long shot:)

Haven't changed the color schemes on the rest of the pages, but am working on it. Will add product pictures in the cart area, just haven't got that far yet.

Ahh, much better.
- I would make the yellow border (way to bright!) grey/white.
- Drop the description for the pictures, get a better (it's blured) picture for the imported spices box.
- sort out a colour scheme, you have reds, greens, blues, yellows etc. Choose 2 colours other than black (for the text) and stick to the for everything.
- yum fruit sticks!

JP,

Thanks...will make changes late this evening...will try grey for border. Get more accomplished from 10pm to 2 AM than do rest of the day:) Have an email sent to the art director for Carmencita to get graphics. (Very helpful so far). Stop your drooling, makes my puter screen look yucky:)Smiling The cherry and grape are really good!!

Hey, JP almost answered the same as I was going to so I'll wait and take another look this eve or tomorrow morning, not sure if I can stay up late enough for your "power hours" Smiling.
Don't sites like this offer freebie samples for special site critiquers (<---is that a word?)

take care,

Think it's looking pretty good now. Have to admit it does look better, although i liked the yellow border...maybe i could split the difference and use grellow. Smiling

Tried to sacrifice quality for load time on graphics...guess you can't have both.

Anyway, thanks for the help.
