Is it possible to disable your site and change it to a new one on the same webhost..
I'm planning to abandon my site and focus on a new topic instead. Would it be possible to change the domain name of a my old site then ill just overhaul the contents?

Most likely it is. Contact your hosting company and ask them.

yes, should be no problem
if you do not need to rename the domain (and purchase a new domain) you can copy the old files to a subdomain, then rework them in the main domain...
