Hi guys,

Hope you can help me. It maybe that I'm being really stupid and my brain is not working at the moment but I need some help on this question...

I have been asked to redesign someone's existing website. Initially I was told to start again from scratch by setting up a new website but at the time the client did not realise that this would mean she would also have to buy more bandwidth as her website grew.

She has spent plenty of money on her existing website to ensure that she has plenty of space.

As i have already created her new website is it possible to transfer her existing bandwidth etc... to the website that I am using. She does not want me to have to edit her existing website as obviously time is money and she believes it would be cheaper for me to start from scratch and she's probably right. Or am I being completely stupid and there is another way around this situation?

Many thanks in advance for your help.

Sarah

Do so as she wants, I see no issues at all. The boss is always right.

Sorry for the less than timely reply, even if this doesn't help you it might help someone else searching on the Intarwebs.

You should contact the host to see if this 'bandwidth sharing' is possible. However, I doubt it is, generally accounts come with a set amount of bandwidth and space, full stop.

The hosts make their profits off the bandwidth and space you don't use, so it's unlikely they'll let your customer off. What they might do is offer to increase your bandwidth for the next month or something (knowing full well you wont use it). Maybe this is just a cynical outlook, and it's worth a try, but don't be surprised if the hosts say 'no.' Smiling

I don't think you can share and take your bandwith with you - especially if you're with a different hosting company - but even if you're in the same hosting enviornment, you are probably on a different plan. But yes, you should be able to take the files you've created for that website and upload them onto any account through the managing interface.

Like Jeeves said, "you should contact the host".
