What are you talking about? Mirrored logos are part of the new Web 2.0 technology!

(They annoy me too) Cool

How 'bout sooo no season? I never really got that effect - as someone else (I forget who) pointed out, why is the page so shiny that everything is reflecting off of it? Do we really need to be looking at the equivalent of a wet floor on a web page?

I thought we got over the bad extraneous visual effects back in the 90's with the overdone drop shadows and bevels. Nope!

I wish people would get over the whole versioning and "beta"-ing of things too. With the little starburst. Which I have used but not for "beta" or "2.0"

Oh...the 90's. An era that will always live with us as the advent of the internet and all the crap that came with it.

I personally never understood why web pages wanted to look like other things. I think they should look like a piece of paper. The end. I'm all for making them look visually appealing, but mirrored logos aren't.

As far as the beta thing, I've never understood why you need to put any indication that the site is in beta. Any sites I have taken part of, when they were in beta mode, only a few people (those helping with the testing) knew about the site anyway, so no one was going to care if it was in beta mode, because knew it was there!

Things are just so frivolous sometimes.

That's why it's a trend, some cool site gets popular although what made it popular is its functionality not the logo, people started copying those, and really sometimes I feel its apples fault, they created super gloss buttons first and everything else followed suit.

Read my blog post about this one, how many sites are already offering reflection generator...

Good quip Renegade, but I think Shoptistic is right. The drop-shadow in your logo could do with being a little more subtle in my opinion. As for the reflections: no never really understood that either. I think Google started the whole 'Beta' trend, thing is a lot of their stuff is in public beta, they only put it on their sites to warn people that the application might not work perfectly. Then everyone started copying the idea! Now it seems impossible to have a public beta without being seen as all Web 2.0-ified. Grrr! Laughing out loud

I also think that alpha beta and beta 1 then release was through the emergence of so many OS softwares being developed that they release everything part by part...

Having beta in the logo is a joke, com'on add it in the cool 'about' or 'vision' page. I think the reflection is okay, and i think M$ Vista has reflections all over? (could be wrong)... if so people are going to love the stuff (maybe?).

Yep! I agree with you! its so 90's. But I still see a lot of sites using those mirrored logos. Maybe its because others get so tied up with their old logos is that it was their sites' trademarks. But there are some intances that these logos could look great given the proper make-over. I just hope there are lots of openminded webmasters out there who are open for changes and the next generation of logo trends. But then again, they may have good reason for using those logos Sticking out tongue

Cheers! Wink
