Hey JP, why aren't you using email notification?

Joseph,

I had it turned on at one time and thought it was working but JP said that the script stalled when someone tried to post. This is the same problem that was happening before and a simple modification to the script fixed it... Problem is, I don't remember the part of the script that I had to remove nor do I have a lot of time to go routing through the script.

The straight up reason: BT has a bug on certain servers (appears to be most) that causes it to stall if e-mail notification is turned on.

This is the only site I know about that has this problem. I added the use of Blat and all the NT people say it works with them too. if you find out exactly why it doesn't work, let me know.

Joseph,

I honestly don't know what is causing the problem. It isn't server side because sendmail DOES work. I don't know if there is a conflict that the server and the script have, but I know the same conflict was happening on the CT server as well. I am even willing to bet money that if we were to test it on another hosts server, it would provide the same problem.

It doesn't matter. The e-mail notification feature has been disabled at this time because it doesn't work properly for whatever reason. When I get a chance to fix the code again, I will and we will re-activate it.

OK, I have found the part of the BT code that doesn't seem to like our servers... I e-mailed it to Joseph and hopefully he will find a way to kill this nasty little bug once and for all.

I edited the TWF BT code and reactivated the e-mail notification features which seem to be working now. Post if you experience problems.

I removed it. You'll see that indentions will appear in the email notifications because JP indents the forum titles.

Joseph, so your script stalled because JP used the spaces? it seemed to me like this, but isn't there any way to get rid of this bug?

I indent the titles so that I can order them without numbers...
