Help install IMAP extension

Hi,

I am still new to PHP. I was wondering if anyone would be able to help me here. I have recently installed Mambo on my computer and like to have IMAP client too. When i installed the IMAP client component, an error message came up saying as follows,

Error in your php configuration
IMAP support not available on your server.
Load IMAP extension or recompile php with imap[=Dir].

Then, i went to google search on IMAP extension and it returned me with a link to PHP website. However, this link "ftp://ftp.cac.washington.edu/imap/" has a list of items and i honestly don't know what to choose.

Can anyone please suggest me what to do? Your help is greatly appreciated.
