About Desktop Icon

Hi Guys

I want to use small photo's of our products as desktop icons.

I don't want to open a program with the icon but I do want it to go to a certain webpage when clicked.

I know lots of you will be saying "Why not just have a bookmark page script".

Two reasons,

1. You would need to look for the bookmark, a little icon of our product on the desktop would serve as an instant reminder and instant access.

2. Could be easily attached to an email to a friend or to display on a blog and the file size I hope would be smaller.

I would be starting with a photo, so need to know how to make the background transarent to start with, which type of file to save as to be able to display on desktop, then what to do to enable a double click to open a certain webpage.

Anyone know where to begin with this one, Is there a pprogram out there that will do the lot?

Hello Everyone,

I am a front-end developer as well as WordPress. Merely in the recent past, I just felt to create something interesting. That's from where Webgen has born. Its not fully completed until now. Merely demand a review from professional of how making it more user friendly by its looks and back-end dashboards. I have included only 3 three templates by now. Hi All,

I'm new to Webmaster, and to web design infact, so I apologies if this question is naive or has been asked many many times before. it would be good to have both biased and unbiased responses if possible.

So here goes....I've been learning to design web sites and web pages mostly from basics so far i.e. Coding and I'm really enjoying this form of web design as I come from a techy background and you can really get satisfaction from it. However I'm seeing time and time again formus and advertisements on Wordpress, Jamoola, "build a website with no experience".... adverts etc... I also read a book recently from a successful web designer who seems to use nothing other than Wordpress and swears by it.

So here's my questions on this topic:
Can your build responsive, beautiful and advanced websites without coding from scratch with these templates?
Should I bother learning to code if this is possible?
Is there a big advantage of designing your own website over using Wordpress?
If I build my own website from scratch can clients still edit basic content?
And what are the limitations to using Wordpress?

Thanks guys for any advice on this topic. It would be good to hear from web designers who have done both and had success with both.

Site does not scroll on mobiles

My site works well on computers. But using a mobile phone the site does not scroll, only the first two items load. The other content can't be accessed.

Is there any solution to resolve this?

Drupal 7 logout functionality

Hello Forum.

I am using Drupal 7 on a new web site. It uses a theme from devsaran. I am not going to mention where the web site is because I have told the friend whom I am making the site for that we will keep the location private until it is completed.

I have created a test user and I logged on to the site. Now, here is the weird part. I did not grant the user any special privileges, but, still, the user does not seem to be able to do anything once he logs in. Granted, there are not any pages posted yet so, I suppose, he might be able to make comments. Is that all a new user can do?

Here is the problem I have. There is no functionality for him to log out. How would a new user log out?

I have my fresh Drupal 7 web site up and running. I am currently testing it. My first test is to try the functionality of creating a new user. I tested added myself (no, not my admin account -- a different one with a different email address). The new user's (mine) email got an alert saying that the account would be approved by the admin and further instructions and password would be sent to me.

I got the alert email also at the admin email address and I logged on and assigned the account a password and approved the account.

But the new user's email never got the notification. I also tried to find the user's email address by using the admin's privileges on the site in case I needed to deliver the message to the user by hand. But I could not find out how to do that.

Please help and advise.

Is it because the Admin account is a gmail account? Is there an issue involved with using gmail? To test this, I went into the "People" setting and I changed the email associated with the Admin. Then I ran a test of a new user. The new user got the email but the email message stated that it had come from the old gmail account. Does this mean I need to completely do a fresh install or is there some special way to change the real setting for the administrator?

Hey guys. I've been working on a new site design, and taken a lot of inspiration from modern stylings that seem to be common online nowadays. I'm proud to say SongRepo v4 is now online. The site is primarily for desktop browsing, but does make a couple of things easier for mobile users. It also degrades nicely if the user has JS disabled, which in turn makes it fully accessible to bots/spiders.

What is the proper way to display videos like graphics?

Most often I display the videos on my webpages like I do with graphics by resizing them to fit to the left side or right side of the page. The code I have been using does this for me and works fluently with the fluid layout. My question is does anyone know how to improve this flow?

What I mean by this is the videos that I display full page reduce in size better with the various screen sizes than do the ones I have resized to the left or right of the pages. What happens is that when the page begins to reduce the video covers up part of the text to the left or right until it fully reaches the next screen size. There is a portion of space between the standard desktop screen reducing to the tablet size where the video does not reduce quickly enough and covers the text.

Does anyone know if this is fixable? Or how do I fix it?

Need help adding php contact code to a template

Hi, I took over a website template for my business which had a php contact form, I'm now taking over a responsive website template and am trying to adapt the php contact form from my old website, I'm receiving an email but the fields are blank.
