Advantage :

The great advantage of using Flash on a website is that it is browser independent. This means your site to work correctly regardless of the browser of the person who is using it. This is a problem with some other means of coding a site and one of the reasons that Flash has become widely used. The other advantage is that it allows you to make your site more interactive than it should be. You can add things like video and audio to your site with ease making it more interactive.

Disadvantage :

The other big problem with Flash on websites is affecting the usability of your site. Everything has to be coded correctly or visitor will end up seeing nothing. Addition of things like the back button does not work unless you add extra code. Basically any of the normal things that people do when visiting a web site will not work properly unless you add additional code to your site. This can be a real problem, so you have to decide whether it's worth.

The most important question to ask when deciding on using flash for designing websites is "Why do I need flash?". Flash can be a very valuable tool for your website. But, it should only be used when needed.

Keep in mind one thing: when a potential buyer visits your website, he has passed the awareness stage of the buying cycle, and is either into the research, evaluation or demo stages. Websites that are too original and flashy are an impediment to transmit the proper message effectively and often times it turns out only as noise. You may need flash to capture attention and build awareness; typically not the main reason why you have built a website. The awareness is built outside the site, through online marketing, or in other types of advertisement, or through thought leadership in professional gatherings. Once those buyers come to your site, they are ready to learn, and your site must be prepared to do so.

Hi, You share here such a great information here about flash. It is true that flash is one of the best software for create animation. I don't like use flash website because its take more time to load and it also not Google friendly. Its not easily crawl in search engine so its difficult to getting high rank.

I personally don't like flash website because these kinds of websites are difficult to rank and you have to work very hard to get good ranking in SERP against these kinds of websites.

Adobe has discontinued development of their mobile version of Flash as of Aug. 15, 2012. It never did work on Apple's iOS devices (iPhone and iPad), and now that Adobe's ceased development on it altogether for mobile, it's no longer an intelligent choice for Android devices or, even, desktop browsers.

For websites, Flash has had it's chance and is no longer a viable option. Although currently a bit more difficult to develop and limited in scope, the future lies with HTML5/CSS3. Even Adobe has acknowledged that this is the case and is shifting resources accordingly.

Bottom line: for websites, Flash is terminally ill and nearly dead.
