    <description> &lt;p&gt;Well said, kazimmerman.  .EDU means for Educational institute, therefore only the registered institutes are able to register the domain extension.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;A customer used to ask me whether he can register his personal tuition centre with .EDU and sorry to say that, NO.  Unless your tuition centre is registered under institute.&lt;/p&gt;

    <description> &lt;p&gt;As far as I know, only accredited institutions can use a .edu domain.  I believe it actually requires an application process (rather than just purchasing an available domain), and there is just one source for purchasing some domains.  Their eligibility requirements are listed here:&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;And you can see that an organization like yours is more suited to a .org domain.  This is the same reason why even high schools or other local schools cannot even receive a .edu domain, as far as I know.&lt;/p&gt;
