Hmmm i was thinking about not

Hmmm i was thinking about not to use comments in drupal at all !

When u create a node - there should be a exactly the same node created (as a topic) in forum and all the discussion comment should be a forum posts.

News1
post (not a comment)
post
post

News2
post (not a comment)
post
post

In forums we got NEWS forum and we can browse there all the nodes (topics - news1, news2) with posts. And since forum topics are nodes with forum category, it should be easy to do.

@JeevesBond did you try move to Drupal 7 ? If not, when are you planing doing so ? BTW you article is great many thanks !

That's actually a hard

That's actually a hard question! I don't know of a good one off-hand, though I did find this just by Googling: http://learnbythedrop.com/beginners-guide-to-drupal

I know it's someone else who's asking for this, but if you could steer them in the direction of just trying Drupal out, then searching for answers to specific questions, they'll get along much better.

Problem is that Drupal's very versatile, so it's hard to say what should go into a beginners guide, or I would probably write one myself.

Sorry this doesn't answer the question very well. My Google search did find some other resources, books as well as online articles, so your best bet is to start there.

Just one more thing, please, Jeeves!

I have been asked if there is an easy step-by-step beginner's guide to Drupal. Do you know of any?

Thanks for the kind words

Thanks for the kind words C0ld1re! Good luck, hope you manage to convince those other people.

Drupal is more work up-front, lacks some of the features of vBulletin, but you also have the freedom to do what you want with the software, no price and you can build your entire site on the same platform (because upgrading and theming disparate bits of software costs more time).

That article was just what I

That article was just what I needed for future planning. We were planning a forum for customer support in the future, and were simply going to choose vB because all the big forums seem to use it.

(Hmmm... you will see that this post changed from "I" to "we"... I have other people to convince!)

Now you have given I/us food for thought about whether Drupal might be easier for us.

Many thanks for the clear writing in the article!
