Hey guys. Some good feedback here. Very much appreciated! SongZilla is very stable now, but I will not be replacing "beta" just yet.

I use a service called APIShark, created by James Hartig, a developer of Grooveshark (I think) .. I use their open API in conjunction with their special-access API to return results.

Currently I have no intentions of getting revenue, as I am planning on expanding into accounts and personal playlists etc. If I did want revenue, I would most likely design my own advertising network. I HATE those networks offered by Google and adBrite. So messy.

For the time being I am not adding new features. My intentions are to revise all the code and functionality, try to minify it then see what I can do to boost performance. The code is very clean, wonderfully organized and an excellent foundation for lots of future additions.

However, I do not want to complicate it. I built this service for my own needs, which were to have a simple, fast music player which I could access from anywhere I wanted.

Thanks for all your feedback. Keep it coming Suggestions are very much welcome. Also, I am taking into consideration the comment about scrolling. It is perfectly fine on larger screens, but I want to make sure all visitors have the best possible experience

This site/idea is amazing. Thanks for posting this because I am going to use it (actually I am listening to a song right now)! It even finds the indie music I listen to... blown away!

Anyhow, back to the critique:

This simple layout is exactly what a website like this needs, pure functionality. However, I feel there is a lot of wasted real-estate at the top of the page. Because of this, it causes quite a bit of scrolling before seeing many results (at least on my 13" macbook). I am sure that this layout works better with larger screens, but it is something to consider.

As Mack mentioned above, I am not sure I understand how revenue would be generated from this site (or if that is even your intention). But it seems like Ad revenue would be the best path for you to take.

Nicely done! I'm also interested in how this works, does GrooveShark provide an open API for searching their database?

This site design is very simple and intuitive, reminds me of Google; however, I am sure that was what you were trying for, cause hey, if it worked for Google it can work for you too.

I understand that this site is likely still under construction so I will disregard any and all broken links / images.

From an e-commerce point of view I must say that I am confused as to how any revenue is to be earned. Some revenue model suggestions:
1. Starting with the obvious: Ad Revenue Model. Take caution as this model can actually send users away. Make sure that all ads conform to your site style, keep them simple and text based just like the majority of your site.
2. Second I would suggest: The Subscription Model. For a small nominal monthly fee, the user could be granted access to your entire music catalog.

Wow it is just genial.. works in opera too.
I find it good to find different versions of a known tune thus helping with an inspiration and showing the arrangements' richness /like when teaching arrangements/

What databases it searches?
