&lt;p&gt;i hope you know when you visit some websites the a small pop-up shows up saying your java is disabled or this website uses java &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;now i want to show this message to those of my visitors who either do not have java installed or have disabled it ...&lt;/p&gt;

    <description> &lt;p&gt;The answer depends on what your Java applets are doing. But I find programming Java not only time consuming, but the results are usually painfully slow to run in a browser. On the other hand, browser makers are improving the speed of JavaScript by orders of magnitude.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;I believe that you would be much better off learning JavaScript than struggling with a major &quot;enterprise&quot; language like Java - unless you intend to use Java on the server, that is...&lt;/p&gt;
