Just because you have one hosting account does not mean they will all have the same IP address. I have one hosting account and have 4 domains, each with their own IP address. (this sucks as I'd have to pay $40 a month more for a static IP address here at home...)

If you're on VPS technology, you will not be able to have a dedicated IP for all 3 of the domains. You won't be able to have a private SSL certificate to cover all 3 domains as well.

there is nothing to worry about from my experience. I had and I have many more sites hosted on the same account and never had a problem because of that.

Reseller account is a good idea.
But the reliability of multiple domain hosting depends on the company you are with. Say apthost.com provides it on a professional level and you will never face any issues hosting your web sites with them.

One tip for doing this is to plan ahead on the file locations on your server, depending on the hosting company. For where my sites are hosted, they are something like this:

(path)/username -> http://{hostingserver}/username
{path}/username/domain1 -> http://domain1.com (and www.domain1.com)
{path)/username/domain2 -> http://domain2.com (and www.domain2.com)
{path}/username/domain2/.test -> http://test.domain2.com

some hosting companies will do your first domain the same as your root web domain, and some then force other domains to be a directory off of that. If that is the case, IMO, spend the $10 (please no posts on how you can get a better deal) for a domain name to be the root one.

I'm in this situation, and my biggest problem is analyzing the access /log files as all the sites get logged to one set of files (I prefer to do my own analysis rather than something like Google Analytics which I'm not sure can separate sites out anyway).
