Hi, as Im totally technologically challenged, I wanted to ask if by merging, this means you can overlay one wav.file onto another so both play?.. This is what i want to do. I am trying to create a meditation recording, I have found a voice over program for overlaying my voice onto a track but I have two files that i want to play together, one is a musical one and the other is a theata wave constant beep. I need to put these two together to create the one track before I record my voice over the top of them. Can audacity do this?

get Audacity, it can merge either way you are talking about, it is free, and very nice! can import the wav's directly and then export final project back to a wav.

Freeware solution (if it must be in .wav format):
Use CDex to convert the files to .MP3
Merge the files with MP3 Merger
Convert the file back to .wav with CDex

What do you mean by "merge", you want two wav files on just one wav file? Yuo can use a wave editor for this. You can even use Nero's sound editor for merging two or more wav files into one single wav file...
