I would like to think I am hovering around the medium group.

Not only is there always something more to learn, even the regarding basic coding, but coding standards, methods and browsers are changing all the time. So even the things I know very well I have to review and update my knowledge from time to time.
So compared to other programmers I suppose roughly medium, but when considering the amount of ability and usage CSS, PHP, Javascript etc has to offer, I am the most beginner 'noob' you can get

I however feel that rather than rating my design skill, I'd rather be rated on usability. There are lots and lots to learn... And you get influenced... As far as I know, I improved a lot since joining TWF, a good way to improve is to get challenged...

Yes, it's a very subjective thing, and it's all relative to what you're comparing yoruself too.

I'm the same as Jeevesbond - around medium/low advanced. My graphic design skills are just okay. I can get by but nothing I do is particularly brilliant most of the time. I tend to go by gut feeling rather than strong knoweldge of design principles. I know a little bit of typography, colour theory etc. but not nearly enough. If only there was more time

Medium for me, I know a bit of design theory but am a bit of a jack of all trades. It takes years to learn. Recommended reading for anyone starting out: 'The Elements of Graphic Design' by Alexander W. White. It's based around print, but translates well to the Web too. Mark Boulton has some good articles on using grids, important information for any designer.

It's very hard to judge where one is with design. It's all very subjective!

I would say I could do most anything I want with HTML, CSS, and graphics. I may not have the most creative mind when it comes to graphics, but I can look around for inspiration and innovate the crap out of anything I can find.

I know a decent amount of rudimentary PHP and mySQL, and have developed a few CMS's...but in an age of JoomLa's and wordpress's, it seems unnecessary at this point.

I do not, however, know any flash or javascript, although i know how to integrate them if I have them provided.

I'm def a beginner and finding it a steep learning curve but hey starting to move up the google rankings and have managed to gain a page ranking on a couple of pages. I try to gain feed back as often as I can and build it into the website to improve it.

Ok. I'll bite.
I'd rate myself as medium..even though I've had no formal training.
I'm always learning, but at slow pace.
Sometimes I feel like I have a learning disability...
I think it's because I don't try to learn 'by-the-book'; rather
I use trial and error. Probably not the best choice.
For example, when I have an idea; I can't seem to logically work out
the steps I need to take and the right order as well.
I do things out of order or backwards..don't know why.
I'm not bragging or complaining here, just stating the truth.
I basically maintain 9 web sites.. some paid, some not.
I would love to have the luxury of a tutor or mentor as I try to
grasp CSS or Java Script or graphics creation from wild ideas, etc.
It a bit hard when your the only 'geek' in the family.
No one cares if you can't "position your images and text so that
it looks good"...know what I mean?
