Sorry, couldn't help it. Smiling I know exactly what you mean though. I also dislike those stock images, they're very false and are obvious from a mile away. There's no way those people actually work for those hosting companies.

I guess there are enough people that fall for it.

~silverwing - and isn't that what sales is all about?

Think I'll start to get

Think I'll start to get excited about PHP6, just as PHP7 comes out (probably won't be adopted until then!)

Regarding up-times: our host guarantees 100% uptime. If the connection goes down they compensate you. The value of the compensation is higher than what you pay for the hosting, so it's a decent system in my opinion. Of course everyone knows 100% uptime is impossible, but that's not the point.

Maybe it's just jaded old me, but I really don't like web hosts that use those stock photos of happy people sitting at their computers or those live support pics of woman with their phone headsets on.

/marvintheparanoidandroid Ghastly. It all is, absolutely ghastly. Just don't even talk about it. Look at this stock photo. "All the stock photos on this Web site have been airbrushed to give them a cheerful and sunny disposition." [...] Hateful isn't it. Come on, I've been ordered to take all your money and leave you with unreliable, crap hosting. Here I am brain the size of a planet and they've got me selling crap hosting. Call that job satisfaction? Because I don't.

Sorry, couldn't help it. I know exactly what you mean though.

Never really thought there are hosts who don't provide php5,
as php4 is going to be discontinued soon.

Like I said, I'm jadded I do understand about the psychological impact of the 99.9%, and yes, it does help those new to the industry. But 99.9% is the same as 'unlimited such-and-such" - it doesn't really exist.

Quite possible, but at the end of the day it all depends on the demand.
If hosting clients are going to need it, hosts will be providing it.

It took quite a while for php5 to be made standard on a lot of hosts, and a lot of hosts still don't have it standard - you have to do the addhandler thing. I wouldn't expect the <del>crappy</del> large hosts to have anything to do with php6 for quite a while.

And I also wouldn't recommend buying a domain name through a host. If something goes wrong, it can really get disastrous if you have to fight with them to get the domain name. (Especially if everything is established under that domain.)

I think that it is not good point for me... I would prefer good uptime and download/connection speed. As far as I understand marblehost.com is a company which offers different guaranties. Do marblehost.com offer uptime guarantees?

The rights on that free domain from MarbleHost.com has the clients. It's obvious.
