Inverse the selection so that the outline will be outside of the text. Add a 'stroke' layer style. You can select the size colour and smoothness from the layer style menu. Drop the opicity of the text to 0 and your left with the outline and a transparent center to ad images behind.</p> <p>There are a few different ways, this is the way I do it.
