Using a download file is the most reliable way from what I read at other forums.
@ Knorr: that's not a service, any conmpany not just hqhost.net will do it to prove to their clients they are stable and reliable.

I'm also with Webhostingbuzz.com, and before signing up, I tested the IP they offer a lot, asked my friends to ping from different places.

Netcraft usually have interesting reports on the most reliable Web hosts, including their response times etc. The Web server survey is arse however.

I pinged Webhostingbuzz.com. Then I read about them on the forums and contacted their support and contacted the customers that left testimonials on their web site and only after it I signed up with them.
