Hostgator.com is one of the better webhostings I've found.

The servers are reliable and you can usually find a coupon for a discount for the first month.

There are different coupon codes that seem to work. It will make the first month free for the "Hatchling" service, and give you $9.94 off for "Baby", "Swamp", and "Semi Dedicated" services.
The coupon codes that I've used in the past are jury, iceishot, and musica. I'm pretty sure those will work for UK users, as well.

Webhostingbuzz.com, Dreamhost.com and Ahosting.biz are without a doubt) reputable and stable providers, but they are not UK-based. Webhostingbuzz.com has their servers at SoftLayer Data Center Plano, TX USA.
Dreamhost.com has their Data Center in L.A., Ahosting.biz have Data Center in Orlando and Charlotte, USA ( I know about Ahosting.biz as I'm hosted with them).

I suggest you to try eskhosting.com
the control panel is cpanel, they offer free domain along with the web hosting plans and dedicated IP address is included. I like the level of support they provide and despite of the fact that I ve been using their services for only a couple of months
I feel that will be stick with them as the service is excellent

There are lots of hosing providers that also offer domain handling and excellent client support. Always consider quality and reliability in choosing a provider. IMO, rates are always secondary
