In my experience, some client want an alternate high-res monochrome or grayscale versions of logos for print, maybe you can use one for your print stylesheet.

Thanks for all the advice. I've truly thought from the beginning that any way I go is not going to be horrible, but I wondered if there was some standard or if there was a preference to most web users.

Thanks.

You could also try what I do, which is, provide two images for the logo. One that is low res and one that is high res for print. Since you are making a print stylesheet anyway, it should be very easy for you to change between the two

As for the colour or no colour question, provide the colour one and like Jeevesbond says, they could always change to black and white. If you provide the black and white logo, it's a bit hard to change to colour

brady.k wrote: but I don't know if the fact that it has color lends to it being difficult or a burden to print.

Print stylesheets are something I should pay more attention to! Regarding your question, I wouldn't worry too much about a splash of colour, particularly if it's a fairly simple image. If you provide a colour image, the user can always change their print settings to black and white.

There will always be people who complain of course: but then they're probably too busy moaning about all those sites that don't provide a print stylesheet at all!

I think you could use the same color logo, but maybe downsize it (depending on the original size) so it isn't quite as dominant.

That's what I do.
