Best to just go along with what their settings are - if they want a new tab, they'll get it. If they want a new window, they'll get that (although I'm sure most people don't know how to change those settings!)</p> <p>The settings menus in Opera and IE 7 are kind of weird. Neither has a straight option to open new windows in tabs, unless that's what "Open windows instead of tabs" means in Opera. It looks like in IE you either have tabs enabled or you don't. The only way around this is to open a new browser window and hope the user has the 'Open new windows in tabs' setting enabled.
