Sounds like a good idea. We did something similar when Megan did a small re-design of the forums. Good idea to try a public beta, will keep everyone posted on that (no Web 2.0 Beta signs on this design though!)

First thing is to get the import routines working on my local machine! I hope it's soon™ too.

LOL, yeah it used to be like that! Having to import a SQL dump file manually into the database, how primitive!

Nowadays though it's all wizards, just CHMOD the config.php to 777, create an empty database (with permissions for a drupal user of course) and point your browser at the site. Young-uns these days just don't know how easy they've got it! Errr, anyway as you can tell: installation of Drupal is a lot easier these days.

Don't know. Maybe, but not just yet.

Some higher priority work is probably going to appear before I do the move, also haven't looked at how we're going to get all the features we need into the Drupal forum (functionality from Modules and such, the default is pretty basic in Drupal). Found an upgrade path a couple of weekends ago (sad things I spend my spare time on), we have to convert from vBulletin -> phpBB -> Drupal. I did a test run and it was mostly successful.

I'll give you a shout, or just post on the forums if am having problems or need any help. Thanks for the offer!

Well... that's good, I guess. How long until the move to Drupal? Do you need any help? I've played with drupal a few times over the years, and from what I remember, installing it sucks! haha

I've found a module that will do what you are asking for: almost. Every thread a users subscribes to is a new feed, this makes sense as it's really the aggregators job to organise feeds (in my opinion).

Now for the bad news: you're going to have to wait for a bit. The module is for Drupal, which is going to be our new forum platform (see 'Why Drupal Sucks', also using one platform is easier than two). I'll put this on the to-do list for after we've moved to Drupal.

I did look at the vBulletin options, it's basically RSS On or RSS Off. No configuration, not that it matters too much. vBulletin sucks.

I agree, I just added the RSS feed and I love how it tells me when new threads start... but it could be better. Megan, any ideas? JeevesBond?

I think that this would be a cool way for it to work:
-each person has their own RSS customizable feed (something like feed.php?id=[userid])
-not only can they add different topics to watch for new threads, but it also...
-auto adds any threads to which the user has posted a comment/reply

So, basically the same way the email system is SUPPOSED to work (but still doesn't for me)... but in RSS form.

This would be pretty easy to code, I would think... but there also has to be something built into vBulletin somewhere...
