Well the site looks nice, but not for kids. You say it is for kids and i see nothing that i consider to be related to kids. No games, pictures, downloads???? Im not sure a kid is that interested in polls and blogs to much...although im not saying never, just not only!

Get some pictures on the front page to catch their attention. Lets face it if a grown adult can come and go from a site in around 1-2 minutes, im sure a kid can come and go in seconds.....

You need to make it more relavant...take advantage of the services other sites offer, for instance facebook, myspace, flickr all these you can get content from to catch attention....youtube.com!! Is a start.

I would forget the forum for now.

Hi, just finished taking a look at your website. Here are my thoughts.

1st: I would try to develop some type of logo to replace the default drupal logo. Perhaps a logo that incorporates toys in some way, as this is a website for kids. A custom logo will help distinguish you from all the other drupal sites out there.

2nd: Some of the content does not seem very kid friendly. I would try to refrain from posting negative news on a website for children and stick to positive news, entertainment, and perhaps sharing cool toys, gadgets, places that kids would enjoy.

3rd: The top of the website above the news definately needs to be cleaned up. It's very cluttered. You might consider removing the poll as it's only purpose really is to see who does and doesn't like the site. While you might want to know this, it does little to nothing to add to the site.

4th: Add a privacy policy. Since this is for kids, you want to show how you are protecting kids who use this website. You could add this to a footer along with your copyright information.

The website does not look bad, its very simple and to the point.

As far as promoting goes:
I would try to market it as a 'safe-haven' for kids. With this you would need to try and protect them from online predators. Maybe add a section about staying safe online?
I would advertise to parents saying that kids meeting kids is good, they just need somewhere safe to do it.

Design:
The website is sortof plain, and has a cluttered look to it.
But, the plain look sortof keeps it simple.
Maybe put some pictures of children having fun?

as for the clutteredness,
I think to really combate that, I would make everything more table like.
Under the welcome you have six different boxes all scattered about.
I would try and make the height of the 'News' box the same as the 'Active forum topics' box.
And do the same as you go down.

This will make everything look more organized, and inviting so the user doesn't get confused upon viewing the site.

Looking at it now, since its a children's site, maybe some happier colors? Red and black is normally a color of death and bad things.
Maybe change them to some other inviting(blue, green), and maybe even brightish colors might make everything seem happier.
