&lt;p&gt;There&#039;s another way you can help solve Andy&#039;s problem.  For software that you would have the right to redistribute (like free software), chances are a mirror site already keeps a copy.  Sometimes these locations are mentioned on the software site&#039;s download page, often not.  If you could track down and post alternate download links from mirrors, that might help.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;If there are no mirrored copies of a freely redistributable program, I think you may be able to recommend or submit it to a mirror yourself.&lt;/p&gt;

    <description> &lt;p&gt;I would recommend caching the downloads - nothing annoys me more than trying to locate a script and find one that I really like the sound of only to find that the developer has deleted the file or changed the URL!&lt;/p&gt;
