    <description> &lt;p&gt;Yup, you need to start somewhere, and xhtml and css are good starting points... you can build sites if you learn them first, and when the need arise for scripting either server-side, or user-side then that would be the time to delve into javascript, php and asp... be patient though...&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;To build websites you only need to learn two things: XHTML (eXtensible Hyper Text Markup Language) &amp;amp; CSS (Cascading Style Sheets). For added functionality you could learn Javascript which is a client side technology (is run in the browser), and for server side code you could learn PHP, ASP or any one of a number of things.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Personally I would say start with XHTML and CSS and build from there.&lt;/p&gt;
