Well about the closest to strange I have, is more a stupidy on other people's parts. I have a domain name that was once owned by a large company. They had the .com and .net. Well one day I was chekcing aorund and the .net was available. I grabbed it. Every other common version is taken (.org, .biz .cc .info and several ones in other countries).

Well for a long time, I didn't have any site on the domain, but would put up sites for my self and others a domain.com/whatever The domain itself appeared to not have a domain name, and I had about 20 people who I set up e-mail forwarding (it is my family name, so set a lot of family up at firstname@lastname.net.

Anyhow for about 3 years I would get an e-mail about once every few months asking me "since you are not using the domain, can you give it to me". You know, doains don't get used unless there is a site there... LOL I finally stopped explaining things to people and told them to reply with their offer of at least $1000 or don't write back. Never heard from anyone.

-Greg
