Agree. Just to add that those verification emails Tim is referring to is sent to the registrant contact email, the technical contact email and administrative contact emails for example. Check with Whois to which emails the confirmation will be going to so you wont have troubles finding it on your mailbox and delay the approval.

You should be able to click the link in that email sent by the requesting registrar (of the transferee) within the time alloted in that email otherwise, the transfer will fail and both of you, the transferror and transferee, have to do this all over again.

Clicking that email link signifies the approval for transfer and once done, the new registrar will process this for you normally in less than a week.

Good luck!

You want to transfer or sell your domain (?). It's belong to where you registerred and hosted your domain. Everything can make easy by contract with your partner. You unlock your domain, transfer all your informations about your package (userID, password, etc,.) to your partner. Let's he make change all infors by himself, and you forget your infors and see your project by the others.

That method is only if you are transfering site ownership to someone who uses GoDaddy. They're specifically talking about using them to sell your domain.

Most registrars have their own method of requesting a domain be transferred to them. First, the person who currently owns the domain needs to go into their control panel and make sure the domain is not locked. Then, the person who is going to receive the domain goes to their own control panel and follows their registrar's method of requesting the domain be transferred to them.

At this point, the procedure can vary. Several emails will likely be sent to both the requestor and the old owner. Both parties need to follow any instructions given in the email in a timely manner. The instructions differ greatly from one domain registrar to another.

The other situation you might run into is if you're transferring owners, but both owners use the same registrar (like GoDaddy). I have run into this situation too, so let me know if that's your situation.

Good luck! Let us know how it goes. I've gone through the procedure myself multiple times and will glad to offer more advice if any problems arise.

Thanks for the link. So if I'm transferring a site ownership to somebody else who doesn't use GoDaddy, they are required to register for a GoDaddy account whether they want one or not? That sucks because I wouldn't want to be required to register at a registrar that I didn't like or use just to eventually move it to my registrar anyway. But oh well, if that's what I gotta do. Thanks again for the link.

As usually the case with questions like this, it is fastest to just check with the company (godaddy.com).

A quick visit to their site gave me this:
