cornering the novelty slipper market ehh. graphics need sorting like others have said.
but niche market is good, as a consumer I would like to see better quality images of the slippers myself.
you need great big pictures of those lovely fluffy slippers with big lovely eyes (if you're into that sort of thing)

I'm no expert but think you're customers have to fall in love with your product and for that they need to go "awww dats soo cute."
when they do that, you've sold some slippers! reguarless of how your website looks.

so buy some, photograph them give them names, whatever it takes to get them to go Awww.

Thank you all so much for your comments.

I have now got someone working on replacing the banner, as i can see now it does look substandard. It should be ready and installed in a few days.

The adsense i will think about - as my store is a niche store, the other shops advertised don't stock novelty slippers, but i can see that the products are interchangeable.

I'm still learning - so thanks for all your help, it really is appreciated

Good start, I only see two problems. The top banner looks too pixely and take off the adsense or at least filter for slippers. You might get $1 a click but you loose $5+ on the sale. You might be better off with somethign like comission junction where you can choose the affiliates. You can put somethign that compliments slippers like night robes, pillows or what ever.

Looks like a good start to me. Was confused by the inclusion of adsense though - never really a good idea when you are trying to sell something directly as your site has conflicting interests: Do you keep them on the site to buy something or encourage them off for a cheap click? Personally I'd drop it like a stone and concentrate on conversions.

I also received a security warning when transferring the the secure site to checkout.

It is a pretty good start for an e-commerce site. I do agree with the above on the graphics, though. Maybe something a bit easier to read. Another thought I had was to post feedback you have received on your product. I always check out what others have to say before I buy. Otherwise, the site looks great!

I agree that the title graphic needs work. The concept is good but the graphics quality is very poor. It makes the site look quite amateurish.

I do like the concept of the site - good niche business idea. The navigation could use some work. The left side links, for example, are plain black which doesn't readily identify them as links. Then the hover colour is very pale and hard to read against the white background. The horizontal menu under the header sort of runs into the title area because the backgrounds are the same. Just changing that background colour and adding some padding would be a big help.

Otherwise it looks okay as far as ecommerce sites go. Good product descriptions and pricing. For a specialty site like this, you might want to open yourself more to international business. So provide international shipping rates and size conversions.

Now that I think of it, I'm not sure about the placement of the price. Users might be looking for it further down. Maybe adding it below the size information would be good.

Ok...good idea but...the header image needs some doing. And I would do the "center" thing the other way around. Instead of using DIV I would use a table and instead of tables inside I would use DIVs. But that's just me. With absolute positioning it will be quite easy. There is a way to do it all using DIV, but I haven't figured it out yet. Also consider changing font for the blue text under the title. It is very hard to read.
