Without wanting to reiterate old comments, you need something to differentiate you, and jazz it up a little.

Not sure what your site would offer that a bigger name can't, personally unless there is something specific i want i would always go for the bigger name.

I think some of the most important things have already been said by the guys above me... One thing that I first thought when I visited your site is that it is very 1990's.

You are entering into a saturated market with your site, and if you want it to stand out above other places such as Download.com, Tucows.com and other app review\download sites... then your gonna need to make your site stand out. I say this because entering into a market where there are so many big name's already there, your site will get lost.

Agreeing with previous responses, My suggestions:
*Perhaps ratings or reviews of any products listed
*Category descriptions
*Snippet descriptions of each item without having to look at item page
*Your About page is descriptive but too texty, many people wont read so much info in one place (much like terms and conditions pages)- split it up into sections, headings, use colours & pictures
*You need a descriptive home page
*About page could include a contact page

Bare in mind I am only critiquing your site- other than my suggestions I like the idea of the site and the content and believe you have made a promising start.
Ever thought about using open source CMS? That can do everything you are looking for!

Personally, i think you need to sort out the background, my suggestion is that u have the blue background all aroun, not just in the middle, so your background has the blue background too. good work with the rest though, i like the layout of th links, well organized.

Perhaps a paragraph explaining what your site is and what it is about/who it is for. There are no real keywords for search engines to get their teeth into

I know meta tags are old school, but some engines still use them. Your site title could also be more descriptive than just 'Appcheck'

If you get indexed in any serach engine what text/phrases will it display describing your site?
