I think maybe you will want to try out a content management system; so that you don't have to do a lot of scripting. Check out opensourcecms.com. There are lots of demos of free ones you can try out.

What kind of hosting are you on? PHP with MySQL or ASP with MSSQL or ???

With that info, I think the people on this forum can give you a hand. Doing what you're asking is pretty difficult, especially if you're a novice.
