That all depends, on what you want to do with your site. I don't need PHP, Pearl or any oddball stuff. Oh yes hotlinking, and downloads - I have no use for either. So the free version does all that I need CSS, HTML, and Photo Albums. It is also one of the only free servers, that will put up with a humongus bunch of photos. Even some pay accounts won't.

I just checked out 50webs.com , the free hosting has no features compared to the $3 per month, the free hosting plan IMO is designed to start up a user and "Maybe" later on that user would upgrade to the $3 or $4 per month in order to get the most out of it. It's basically marketing, offer something for free BUT with limited capabilities. Think about "SHAREWARES" for example.

one small thing i noticed. its subdomain of 50 web.

i still prefer to go for own .com name.
brand it. work hard on it. after few years, it reach a good profit time.
i will get more money from it. at least the name worth more than wat the hosting value.

Free web hosting is a thing of the past. Like soundtank said, there are cheap and reliable hosting now. Most prefer to just pay between $2-$4 and get a web hosting account clear of any advertising. ----Way to go.

50 webs, no adds, no limit to bandwidth I have ever found, and I have a ton of Hi-res photos. I have needed to converse with the staff, and found it very easy, no problems.

All the way around the best free host I have ever seen, in fact better than some paid hosting. I have been with them a little over a year now.

yup.... pay a little, and get some assurance.
at least, when u try to contacting them when u need help, there is people answering you right a way.
