Quote: sleep your way to the top

Jeepers! I hadn't thought of that! This changes everything!

Seriously, i have had fine success in the past taking 3 minutes of one single day to submit to Google and Yahoo. Yahoo has always taken longer. But, the most recent scenario put Yahoo only two days behind Google, which took about 1 week 16 hours 13 minues and 8 seconds... or was it 7 seconds? After that, it was a matter of days before a whole army of bots were finding the site.

You'd be surprised what someone elses personal experience could do to your chances of being found through a search engine. I'm a good example. Even though Google has proven to be faster in their indexing, Yahoo is more consistent in their results. So, i don't use Google to search the internet anymore, unless i use something like Dogpile. What's my point? Well, we rely too much on this impersonal world of the internet to do all of our marketing, when we could have a better chance "searching" the real world for real people to visit our sites. My advice. Submit to Yahoo the old fashion way, no special tools required, do the same with Google, even though you are adword able, then try to find people to help spread the word. By the time you have people bookmarking your site because they're your friend, Google will be calling you asking if they can pay to <del>*advertise on your site</del>.

*Edit: Two minutes later-I forgot about adsense

content then in your case pricing, content will always win out at the end of the day.
Either that or sleep your way to the top with someone at every search engine company

It all depends what your content is, how it is, and how well it is to find each page/section.

Say you have a website on ipods (i gather thats what your site is about without looking at the url), using just the words ipod and/or ipods wont get you listed on first page as there are thousands upon thousands of sites on the same topic. Your best bet as you have to compete against the manufacters and dealers is to target a side section. I don't have an ipod (probably only one in the world who doesn't) so dont know alot about them but thinking about a walkman (yeah those things you see in meseums ) batteries where an issue and leads breaking ... so while still targeting ipod you direct your queries to the bad rather than the good, how many people would search for ipod faults, ipod upgrades, ipod features/functions, ipod for dummies, ipod faq ... people will only find it using those keywords but youd have more chance of being found with them than just ipod.

quick search on googe for ipod gave 539,000,000 results

The top sites have keywords such as (from search page)
Apple of course being number one, then iPod resource for news, reviews, forums, tips, tutorials, and software. iPod Hacks, Home page for an open source project dedicated to bringing Linux to the iPod, We have the largest selection of iPod Accessories and Cases on the Web. iPod's Dirty Secret, iPod Battery FAQ. Unofficial listing of common issues relating to battery lifetime, service, replacement, and warranties. iPod with a case and earphones. The iPod is a brand of portable digital media player designed and marketed by Apple Computer, Apple 30 GB iPod

Ok now I dont feel so bad, I thought my walkman was a stupid example but looking at the results I was right on the money, the results show things like batteries, earphones, faults etc.
I looked at your site now and it's just a shop, apart from layout and maybe products its no diference to any other, you need reasons for people to come, buy, return. give a faq, a write up on feats, records even (ipod longest living, shortest living or something)

Ipods can be brought anywhere, all over the world, content is king, you need content, not so much product

If you have a high PR domain/website, say a "5" or better - than just put up a one-way link to your "other" site and you should get indexed very quick and get a better PR also (you have zero now). See my sig and I will list you in my PR 5 directory - that will help too.

I never submit my sites to search engines, to be indexed all you need is to build back-links, links from other domains directing to your site.

Tip; put your site URL in your signature and I'm sure the search-bots will follow those links when they crawl this forum. That goes faster than any submission can do.
