Great point, dk01! The "nice" thing about IE is that most people have it on their computer, so it should be too hard to use some public computer or a friend's computer. Do you have a CD burner or USB hard drive of some sort?

If you have a library near you they probably have IE on at least one PC. Might be worth a try.

Well, if I was serious about web design, I'd have a job right now! ..........or not.

I don't have any money to spend. I guess I'll have to stick with the awkward method.

If you're serious about web designing, I would set up an inexpensive (less than $500) machine that you can set up Windows XP on just for testing web pages. I did the inverse, and bought a Mac Mini for testing websites.

I'm on a GNU/Linux box with no IE either. I've pretty much stopped testing for IE. Between Firefox/Mozilla/Epiphany, Opera, Konqueror, Dillo, and Links, I've usually done enough testing and built enough redundancy to be confident that IE will render something decent.

I do review pages with IE on Windows at a later stage though, if and when I get access to it. It's certainly not an integral part of my initial development process.

Of course, this is made more convenient by the fact that support for IE is not commonly a concern for me. And I avoid fancy trickery that would normally complicate matters.

For you, I guess what all this amounts to is: get a Wintel box if support for IE on Windows is important to you. Otherwise, you can probably get away with well-disciplined code and late testing.
