I know with OSCommerce, as with most shopping cart software, you still have to get a separate credit card processor. If you just elect for OSCommerce to give you the credit card info, the built in way is for it to store part of the credit card number, and email you the rest of the digits.

Thanks for the ideas. I'm in the middle oof upgrading my forum ...I should say upgrading my test forum. I nervous about that to. Once I get that done I'll be trying out the shopping carts.

I hope you don't mind a couplel more questions for now:

Do all of these shopping carts process credit cards?

Do the shopping carts do encryption to protect the cc number?

depends on your view point, every service that tends to prove its longevity needs to prove its power with the users too... So everybody is entitled to their opnions, but then again since being acquired by ebay, theyve been cleaning up their act... But hey thats my opinion too...

I have to recomment osCommerce also. I do know how to program, though, so I'm not sure how easy to customize it would be for the non-programmer.

I would suggest Zen Cart. It is more dynamic, but still stable. osCommerce does have a few more tools online, but that is only because it has been around longer. I think that Zen Cart will have everything that you need in the near future.

I'm about to try Zen Cart (http://www.zen-cart.com/), which seems a viable rival to OSCommerce. It seems lighter, and will be easier to CSS-ify. You know it's got to validate!

I don't have much experience with e-commerce stuff though, so others may be better qualified to help with this one.

osCommerce is the one I'd recommend, though it can be unweildy at times, especially when it comes to changing that layout. Nice effects can be got though (http://www.bydon.org/shop/)
