Hosting on your own computer brings a wealth of problems. First DSL wouldn't be fast enough to support multiple web surfers trying to download files at the same time. Sign up with a host or increase your plan. Secondly, hosting off your personal computer would render your computer useless trying to process items for others and you couldn't process your own applications.

I would not reccomend hosting these downloads from your home computer. I think a better way to go is the keep you hositng account and purchase a second real cheap hosting account ie some "unlimited" plan of ebay or other place. Host your download files on the cheap hosting. If they cut you off then just move on to the next one. But if you do it this way your main domain will never be suspended.

Just a thought.
